The LSU football coaching staff has been putting in extra effort on the recruiting trail as they focus on the future of the program in Baton Rouge.
After successfully securing commitments from 27 recruits in the 2024 class, their attention is now on one final prospect as National Signing Day approaches in February: Terry Bussey.
Bussey, recognized as the top athlete in the nation, is set to visit Death Valley on Wednesday for his last trip down South before making his college decision. The five-star prospect previously visited Athens to meet with the Georgia Bulldogs and will now make one final trip to Baton Rouge.
Following his visit on Wednesday, Bussey will return to College Station for another trip to Texas A&M, where he has been committed since September. Despite his commitment, Bussey has kept his options open, especially as LSU gains momentum in his recruitment. Now, the Tigers have one last opportunity to impress the elite-level athlete before he officially commits next week.
Bussey has already visited LSU’s campus twice in the past few months, with Wednesday marking his third trip to Baton Rouge since September.
Brian Kelly and his team have the chance to make a strong impression during Bussey’s final visit, presenting him with the prospect of being a versatile asset for the program, making an impact in all three phases of the game.
While Bussey’s primary role is expected to be as a safety/defensive back at the next level, the possibility of playing as a wide receiver or return specialist is not ruled out.
For LSU, securing a player of Bussey’s caliber would be the perfect conclusion to a dynamic 2024 recruiting cycle. With already signing three five-star prospects, the Tigers currently boast the No. 3 class in the 2024 cycle according to On3’s Recruiting Rankings.
All eyes are now on Bussey, and while flipping him from Texas A&M might be a challenge, Kelly’s staff is committed to putting in the effort until the coveted prospect officially commits next week.
Bussey is expected to arrive in Baton Rouge on Tuesday night, kicking off his visit on Wednesday to experience the atmosphere of Death Valley.
During the midweek visit, Kelly, Corey Raymond, and the LSU recruiting staff, led by Sherman Wilson, will go all out to make a lasting impression on Bussey.
