Jimmie Johnson kudos Richard Petty with special Daytona 500 paint scheme on his Toyota debut

The 2024 Daytona 500 marks the debut of seven-time NASCAR Cup champion Jimmie Johnson with Toyota, as he takes the wheel of the No. 84 Camry for Legacy Motor Club (LMC). Johnson, who co-owns LMC with businessman Maury Gallagher, replaces seven-time champion Richard Petty as the team’s previous owner. Petty still holds a minor ownership stake in the team.

Recently inducted into the NASCAR Hall of Fame, Johnson will showcase a special tribute paint scheme at Great America. Sponsored by Carvana, the car will feature the iconic Petty Blue as its base color, inspired by the Chrysler Plymouth that Petty drove to victory in the 1964 Daytona 500. The design will include chrome accents, white lettering, and the “Petty 75” logo, commemorating the family’s 75th year in racing. Reflecting on the tribute, Richard Petty expressed happiness and pride, viewing it as a testament to the enduring legacy of the Petty family in racing.
