Gilbert Brown, a revered figure in Green Bay Packers history, exudes both passion and pride. As a distinguished member of the Packers Hall of Fame, Brown is a familiar face around Lambeau Field, often seen engaging with fans at Stadium View Bar and Grill before every home game. His embodiment of the Packers’ spirit is unmatched, earning him the respect of many.
During the 2023 NFL season, Brown collaborated with myself and Brian Maafi from Cheesehead TV and the ATB Network to co-host the Go Dads Go podcast. Leveraging his experience as a former player, Brown offered unique insights and analysis that enriched our discussions.
In our final episode of the 2023 season, recorded on Tuesday, Brown joined us to dissect various NFL narratives, including the aftermath of Super Bowl LVIII and the Packers’ coaching changes. One topic that ignited passionate discourse was a social media post by former Las Vegas Raiders linebacker Will Compton. Following the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl victory, Compton alleged on social media that the NFL is rigged, leveraging his status as a former player to lend credibility to his claims.
Compton, known for his affiliation with the controversial Bussin’ with the Boys podcast under Barstool Sports, is no stranger to provocative statements (such as the incident where he and his co-hosts queried Aaron Rodgers about vaccination consequences). However, this particular assertion drew a fervent response from Brown, reflecting his deeply-held convictions.
