During the 2023 NASCAR season, William Byron had a breakthrough performance, securing six victories and guiding his Chevrolet to a commendable third-place finish overall. With such remarkable progress, the 26-year-old entered this year’s Daytona 500 opener with high hopes.
Byron exceeded expectations by clinching victory, outpacing teammate Alex Bowman despite some controversy surrounding the finish and an earlier 18-car crash. This win showcased Byron’s return to top form, hinting at further success in 2024.
His advancement is unsurprising given his track record of success at lower levels, including championships in the Xfinity Series and K&N Pro Series East. Since joining the Cup Series in 2018, Byron has amassed an impressive 11 wins, 42 top fives, and 84 top 10s.
What sets Byron apart now is his comfort at the highest echelons of NASCAR competition. Consistently improving his standings since 2021, he has proven himself against formidable competitors within his own team and beyond, besting former champions Chase Elliott and Kyle Larson.

With a secure position in his team, demonstrated consistency, and added playoff experience, Byron is on the brink of stardom. His versatility across different track types—super-speedways, road courses, short tracks, and intermediates—underscores his capability as a contender.
Of his 11 victories, seven have occurred at this year’s playoff tracks, with notable successes at Las Vegas, Homestead, Martinsville, and Phoenix. His past triumphs, particularly at Phoenix during the regular season, hint at his potential in the championship race.
Byron’s status as NASCAR’s rising star is solidified, and while future outcomes remain uncertain, it would not be surprising to see him clinch a dominant championship run to cap off the season.
