Eagan, Minnesota – The Vikings are bolstering their offensive line with seasoned talent and adaptability.
Announced on Friday, Minnesota has secured the services of guard/center Dan Feeney.
Feeney boasts an impressive NFL record, having participated in 112 games, starting 65 of them. His most recent stint was with the Bears, where he featured in 16 games during the 2023 season, making one start.
Turning 30 in May, Feeney was initially drafted by the Chargers in the 2017 NFL Draft. He was highly regarded as the top prospect for interior offensive lineman by NFL analyst Lance Zierlein that year. The Chargers drafted him in the third round, and he made an immediate impact, starting 57 out of 63 games over his first four seasons in Los Angeles, missing only one game during that period.
During Feeney’s tenure with the Chargers, the team maintained an average of 111.5 rushing yards per game in 2020. According to Pro Football Focus, he incurred just two penalties throughout the season and allowed four sacks on rookie quarterback Justin Herbert while playing at center.
Following his time with the Chargers, Feeney spent the 2021 and 2022 seasons with the Jets, featuring in 33 games, seven of which he started.
Before entering the NFL, Feeney had a distinguished collegiate career at Indiana University, where he played for four seasons. He served as a team captain twice and became only the fourth player in school history to receive First-Team All-America honors twice, achieving back-to-back recognitions in the 2015 and 2016 seasons.
Feeney began his collegiate journey as a right guard, starting in the position for the first 41 games before transitioning to right tackle for the final five games. Throughout his college career, he allowed just two sacks over 3,355 snaps.
