Michael Penix Jr. hosted his Pro Day workout in Seattle on Thursday. Although the Denver Broncos didn’t send their top personnel and coaches, they had multiple representatives observing the University of Washington quarterback’s performance.
Furthermore, the Broncos plan to hold another meeting with Penix in the upcoming days. According to Penix himself, Denver is one of four teams he’ll meet individually. He’s also scheduled to meet with the New York Giants, Atlanta Falcons, Las Vegas Raiders, and Pittsburgh Steelers.
This upcoming meeting will be the Broncos’ second formal interview with Penix, who began his college career at Indiana University. He previously met with them at the NFL Scouting Combine, where he was among seven quarterbacks who had a formal interview with Broncos officials.
Reflecting on his initial meeting with the Broncos, Penix described it as unique compared to others, expressing his confidence before and after. He mentioned the potential of playing under Coach Sean Payton, expressing admiration for Payton’s coaching prowess.
During the conversation, Penix noted that the Broncos focused on analyzing some of his less successful plays, indicating their interest in seeing how he responds to adversity and takes accountability, traits he believes are crucial at the professional level.
Despite Penix’s history of injuries, which include shoulder and knee issues, his football intelligence has been highlighted, notably during Senior Bowl week where he showcased his understanding of the game.
