On April 9th, the Arizona Diamondbacks brought back right-handed pitcher Tyler Chatwood on a minor league contract, sending him to play for the Triple-A Reno Aces.
Last year, Chatwood joined the Aces as part of a non-roster agreement in early August, making five appearances out of the bullpen. During these outings, he conceded only one earned run across 5.1 innings, typically pitching in the late innings.
With stints at five different teams, including the Los Angeles Angels, Colorado Rockies, Chicago Cubs, San Francisco Giants, and Toronto Blue Jays, Chatwood offers a wealth of experience in the majors. His most recent MLB appearance was in 2021 with the Giants.
Chatwood’s standout season occurred in 2016 when he recorded 12 wins and a 3.87 ERA while playing for the Rockies.
Currently, the Reno Aces, affiliated with the Arizona Diamondbacks, hold a 5-5 record in their league.
