There has been talk about the future of the Bulldogs’ former top draft pick, particularly with a forward line featuring tall players like Aaron Naughton, Rory Lobb, and the up-and-coming Sam Darcy.

Last week, Essendon ruckman Sam Draper suggested that some players whose contracts are up might depart the club, shining a light on coach Luke Beveridge.

These remarks, coupled with the surprising loss to Hawthorn in round eight, have increased pressure on the Bulldogs and Beveridge. However, Ugle-Hagan’s decision to re-sign should improve the mood.

“I’m really thrilled to be staying here,” Ugle-Hagan expressed on Wednesday.

“The Western Bulldogs have supported me since I was 15 years old through the Next Generation Academy. Since then, I’ve grown to love the club, and it feels like home to me.

“The guys here make me feel like we’re a big family… everyone has been amazing since I first walked through the doors. The best part of our job is that we get to come to work every day with our best mates and train and compete with them.”

The Bulldogs matched Adelaide’s bid for Ugle-Hagan at the beginning of the 2020 National Draft and gave him his debut in round 17, 2021.

Since then, he has played 51 senior games, including 39 consecutive matches before missing rounds six and seven this year.

“Having been a part of the Bulldogs since the age of 15, Jamarra has developed a strong bond with the red, white, and blue and is seen as a significant part of our future.
