JUST IN: Husker signee lands in Top 125 sideline for unexpected reasons

One of the recruits for Nebraska basketball in 2024 will finish the recruiting season ranked within the Top247.

Nick Janowski, a guard from Peawaukee, Wisconsin, secured the 125th spot in the 2024 247Sports player rankings. He’s ranked as the 23rd best shooting guard nationally and the second best recruit in Wisconsin. Janowski, standing at 6-foot-3 and weighing 200 pounds, had an impressive senior season, averaging nearly 30 points and eight rebounds per game. He also became Peawaukee’s all-time leading scorer with a total of 2,253 points over four seasons.

Nebraska’s head coach, Fred Hoiberg, praised Janowski’s competitive spirit, emphasizing his understanding of what it takes to win and his strong work ethic. Hoiberg described Janowski as a versatile guard with exceptional shooting abilities.

Despite Nebraska’s roster changes through the transfer portal, Janowski remained committed to the team since spring 2023, turning down offers from various schools including Georgia Tech, Iowa, Iowa State, Marquette, USC, Virginia Tech, and Wisconsin.

According to 247Sports analyst Brandon Jenkins, Janowski is known for his productivity, playing to his strengths, and making smart decisions on the court. He is seen as a reliable shooter and an effective playmaker, making him a valuable asset in the Big Ten.

Janowski is one of two high school recruits for Nebraska in the 2024 class, alongside Braden Frager, a forward from Lincoln Southwest who reclassified to 2024 and signed with Nebraska in November. Frager expressed his confidence in the program’s coaching staff and its upward trajectory.
