The family of the wide receiver, who played for both the Kansas City Chiefs and Tennessee Titans, offered a heartfelt tribute following his passing. They shared their sorrow, explaining the difficulty of reaching out individually in such a challenging time. They conveyed the profound loss of a beloved brother, friend, and uncle in the absence of words to adequately express the sadness. Describing Devon’s abundant love, joy, and talents, they highlighted his ability to bring laughter through football skills, guitar playing, jokes, voices, back-flip tricks, banter, Star Wars discussions, Halo nights, and his captivating smile. His impact was acknowledged from his high school days at Granite Bay High School in California to his college years at Fresno State, where he led the Western Athletic Conference in yards per punted return during his senior season with 56 receptions in 13 games.
Fresno State, recognizing Wylie as ‘forever a bulldog,’ expressed condolences to the Wylie family during this trying period. Transitioning to the NFL, Wylie’s career began with the Kansas City Chiefs, where his quickness and adept catching abilities were praised by coach Romeo Crennel. Despite being released by the Chiefs in 2013 after six games, his journey continued with a brief stint at the Tennessee Titans, followed by involvement with six different teams over the next two seasons. Ultimately, he concluded his football career in 2016 in the Canadian Football League.
