Oklahoma Sooners star die after battle with colon cancer

Ryan Minor, a former standout in both baseball and basketball for the Oklahoma Sooners, passed away on Friday following a battle with colon cancer, as announced by his twin brother, Damon, on social media. Ryan, who was 49 years old, had been diagnosed with Stage IV colon cancer last autumn.

Damon expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support, describing Ryan as an exceptional twin brother. They had both excelled at Hammon High School before making their mark at the University of Oklahoma, notably clinching the College World Series title in 1994 with the Sooners baseball team.

Kenny Gajewski, Oklahoma State softball coach and a former teammate of the Minors on the 1994 baseball squad, mourned Ryan’s passing and extended condolences to the Minor family.
