Louisville has formally announced the addition of Frank Anselem-Ibe, who is transferring from Georgia. An imposing figure at 6-foot-10 and 220 pounds, Anselem-Ibe, who committed to the Cardinals on May 21, has one year of eligibility left.
Describing Anselem-Ibe, Kelsey remarked, “Frank has demonstrated efficiency at the high-major level over the last four years. He’s a resilient, athletic center who will contribute on the court and provide leadership off of it. With his experience, he adds a veteran presence and maturity that will benefit the team throughout the season. Not only does he excel at protecting the rim, but he also shines as a student, leader, and individual.”
According to the official UofL release, the Lagos, Nigeria native spent the previous two seasons in Athens, Georgia, with the Bulldogs. During the 2023-24 season, he played 29 games, averaging 9.1 minutes per game, scoring 2.6 points, and grabbing 2.1 rebounds. In the 2022-23 season, he appeared in 31 games, averaging 14.6 minutes per game, 3.3 rebounds, and 2.9 points per game.
Speaking to 247Sports after committing to Louisville, Anselem-Ibe emphasized Kelsey’s energy as a significant factor in choosing to join the Cardinals.
“He’s very energetic, intense, but that’s what it takes to win,” Anselem-Ibe said of Kelsey. “You can’t be lackadaisical; you have to be prepared and focused to play for someone like him. He’s been successful everywhere he’s been, and we’re hoping to replicate that success at Louisville.”
Anselem-Ibe played in 31 games and started six times during his debut season with the Bulldogs in 2022-23, averaging 2.9 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 0.9 blocks per game in 14.6 minutes per contest.
During the 2021-22 season, Anselem played in 32 games, starting six times for Syracuse. He averaged 2.5 points and 3.8 rebounds in 14.2 minutes per game while shooting 62.5 percent from the field.
