Texas TE to commit to Auburn

A 4-star tight end prospect pledged to Texas, Emaree Winston of Cahoun, Georgia, hadn’t visited Auburn since participating in a camp with the Tigers as an 8th grader. However, he recently returned to Auburn for an official visit to explore Hugh Freeze’s program and left with a strong impression. Despite his commitment to the Longhorns, Winston acknowledged Auburn’s efforts and expressed intentions of revisiting.

Winston explained, “I hadn’t been in touch with them until coach Ben (Aigamaua) visited my spring practice. I had stopped considering other schools. Auburn significantly improved their position. We hadn’t previously communicated, but now we talk daily. I receive a Bible verse each morning, which is meaningful to me and my family. Putting faith first matters.”

He spoke highly of Coach Ben, praising his positive energy and coaching style, fostering a good rapport between them.

During his visit, Winston appreciated the opportunity to interact with coaches, explore the campus, and understand the program better. He particularly noted the emphasis on involving tight ends in the offense, citing Rivaldo Fairweather’s impact last season.

“The tight ends’ development,” Winston emphasized. “Coach Ben demonstrated their usage and highlighted player 13 (Fairweather), who stands out. They utilize him similarly to how I play.”

Initially, distance wasn’t a consideration for Winston, but Auburn’s utilization of tight ends has altered his perspective. Being close to home now holds appeal, especially with family support.

Winston also mentioned the influence of his close friend Ryan Ghea, who is already committed to Auburn. Their strong bond has contributed to Winston’s growing familiarity and interest in the Tigers’ program.
