St. Louis CITY SC has secured the services of Missouri-born midfielder John Klein on a short-term loan from their MLS NEXT Pro side, St. Louis CITY2. Klein’s addition comes ahead of their upcoming MLS fixture against FC Dallas at Toyota Stadium on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. CT.

Klein, aged 24, has been in impressive form at CITY2, registering four goals and two assists in 12 appearances this season. Hailing from Columbia, Missouri, he recently netted crucial goals including the game-tying strike against Colorado Rapids 2 and a match-winner versus Tacoma Defiance in consecutive outings. Over his tenure with CITY2 spanning the last eighteen months, Klein has amassed a total of 17 goals and six assists across 41 matches.

His contributions have been instrumental in CITY2’s strong position in the MLS NEXT Pro Supporter Shield standings, currently placing second with a record of 8 wins, 2 draws, and 2 losses, amassing 27 points.

According to MLS regulations, this short-term agreement enables clubs to temporarily recruit players from their MLS NEXT Pro affiliates for MLS matches, U.S. Open Cup, Concacaf Champions League, Canadian Championship, and exhibition matches.
