The Minnesota Vikings opted for an audacious trade during the 2024 NFL Draft to secure pass-rusher Dallas Turner. This move stirred excitement among fans, particularly following the departure of Danielle Hunter in NFL free agency.
Turner, recognized widely as a top-tier pass-rushing talent, surprised many by falling to the 17th pick. He is now determined to prove wrong the teams that passed on him.
Minnesota Vikings Receive Surprisingly Positive Update On Dallas Turner
According to ESPN’s Kevin Seifert, offensive lineman Christian Darrisaw has been thoroughly impressed by Dallas Turner’s early performances in practice, describing Turner’s pass-rush moves as “insane.” In a closed practice session recounted by Darrisaw, Turner executed a spin move that impressed teammates with its speed, surpassing even the abilities of former Pro Bowl pass-rusher Danielle Hunter, who had a notable career with the Vikings before moving to the Texans in free agency.
Turner had a standout season for the Alabama Crimson Tide in 2023, tallying 53 tackles, 10 sacks, 14.5 tackles for loss, two forced fumbles, and a defended pass. These impressive collegiate stats suggest he could make a smooth transition to the NFL. If Darrisaw’s observations hold true during the regular season, Turner could quickly rise as a star player. His reputation and potential entering the draft seem to be well-founded.
For now, the Minnesota Vikings appear to have made a wise move by trading up for Turner. While he still needs to prove himself on game days, his promising start has sparked optimism about his future in the league.
